I was able to see this photo thanks to DarkUFO. This product is not yet on the market but apparently was one of many on display at the D23 Expo. Well, whatever, I knew beforehand that when the season 5 LOST dvd box sets are out that we have to get this one (the Dharama Initiative Orientation Kit) instead of the regular plain one. I know I am a nerd and I know this is a post regarding the purchase of a DVD box set, which is pretty fucking lame, but hey... I dig this shit.

Yeah so I figured out how to get twitter to let me back on w/the email address under which I choose to register so I'm back on it, tweeting, on occasion, with the best of 'em.

Those who know me well ought to know by now that the assertion read above in the title of this post is perhaps one of the truest statements to be uttered about me. (It is probably true for most people too, human nature being what it is...)

Anyway, not like I really give a shit or whatever, but I thought it might be a good idea to address this topic simply because a couple posts down or so I was bitching about twitter. I still say that despite whatever twitter is and however much people use it or like it, I really find it absurd when folks on the television are making such a big deal about it. And occasionally annoying.

Two weeks ago, a professor from the UGA business school shot his wife and two other victims dead at a community theater in Athens.

Two days ago the police and other investigators working with them found a body which by all signs must be him, although at this moment they are still awaiting the final (forensic) confirmation of his identity.

I do not have much to say. It is just very strange and sad and upsetting. At the same time it is very interesting.

One wish I have right now, not my only wish by far, but one wish I have that is very strong is that everyone would just shut the fuck up about Twitter. You can't turn on any media source without them tweeting or talking about it. We get it. Nobody really cares anymore anyway. Shut up.

By the way, I never heard from Twitter about restoring my account under the original user name (associated with the email address I would want to use for a Twitter account) I had chosen. So fuck 'em. As anyone reading this might guess, I am not really interested much in tweeting now or in the foreseeable future anyway.

I know it's a little late. I meant to post this closer to its showing back a couple months ago or so but for some reason I alternately could not find it on their site and was lazy. Anyway. 1) This is fucking hilarious, of course. 2) Also, the satire is dead-on, which to some degree, mitigates the hilarity. I do not wish to suggest that we should not hold the current administration's feet to the fire on certain issues, e.g. warentless wiretapping, etc. However, don't lets forget how shitty we had it just a couple months ago. Perspective, ya know?

So, the good ol' automated Java update checker says it's time to download a Java update and when I run the installer I click through too quickly, I realize too late that I accepted a request to allow it to install some extremely stupid and annoying Yahoo! browser toolbar bullshit.

I thought I was screwed.

Then my trusty Webroot antivirus/antispyware swoops into action telling me some so-and-so is trying to install a browser helper or some such, and do I want to block installation or allow. Uh, that'd be a block, thank you very much. It's so nice when anti-malware does what it is supposed to.

To the point: Why does a tried and true (and trusted), and essential software like Java have to try to hoodwink users into installing a browser toolbar? Who benefits from this? (besides Yahoo!?) Maybe Sun Microsystems gets some kind of kickback from installs of the toolbar. Who knows? Anyway, Sun should be classier than that. Very Very very lame.

I'm in the San Jose, CA airport which rocks simply because it has free WiFi. (fuck that 9.95 per day shit, ATL!)

I am sitting in a little cubby/desk area w/multiple outlets for charging and ample room for both my laptop and my awesome sandwhich half donated by a coworker who knew I would be traveling.

I tried to restore my twitter account just to complain about this lady two spots down from me who just can't quit blah-blah-blahing on her cell phone about her project and the webpage and waiting to hear back from so-and-so and this particular role, and what happened is, and sometimes the roles shift around and yadda yadda yadda... ad infinitum...

I swear she said fifteen minutes ago she had to go.

I suppose I'm no better, blogging... trying to twitter (apparently you can't make a new account associated to an email address used previously even if the past account has been deleted/discontinued, and also apparently the account restoration process is not instantaneous. I am not willing to use a different email address so I will not be twittering immediately. I tend to be pretty verbose anyway, so maybe it's for the best...

Never before have I felt such a relief to have a president leave office. I understand why his supporters (though they now only comprise 22% of the population) think some of the criticism has been disrespectful. It has. However, the disrespect has been well deserved.

A week ago I was playing my mp3 player through our stereo when some guests were over. Otherwise, it is usually in my backpack when I am not listening to it. Then, on Tuesday morning I noticed it was still plugged into the stereo, so I unplugged it, and I thought I put it in my backpack. Later, I couldn't find it, so I wasn't sure if I actually put it in my backpack. I couldn't find it anywhere. I thought it might have been lost. That would suck, because this mp3 player is top notch and will probably last me a long time. And we can't really afford a new one right now. Anyway, yesterday I had a crazy thought, that maybe it was in my backpack in the main compartment, NOT where I normally keep it. Sure enough, there it was, behind all the folders and everything. I am so glad to have found it!

I was actually quite pleased with McCain's concession speech. Those supporters of his who booed quite loudly when he first mentioned Obama by name, and a second time when he first mentioned Biden by name, are either morons or assholes, or both. I have to think that McCain is ashamed of a significant portion of his supporters.

The world is breathing a collective sigh of relief and is celebrating!

No doubt the insane racists and far-right ideologues and religious nuts that have been making the rounds on YouTube at McCain rallies, saying outrageous, shameful and hateful things about Obama will be very disappointed and probably will not recognize him as their president. I am not worried. Now they know how so many of us feel when Bush stole the election in 2000. (And again in 2004?) We did not consider him our president either and the country survived.

It's past my bedtime. I don't know if I can fall asleep quickly but I've got to teach early in the morning so I don't have much choice. It's time to get to bed. I'll listen to the Alan Colmes show on the radio as I fall asleep.
