I quit my part-time call center job a couple weeks ago. I just stopped going. No call, no show. Fuck 'em. This was not done without consulting first with Holly, to whom I am very grateful for understanding. Being in grad school, being a TA, AND having a second part-time job is MUCH more demanding than I first thought it would be.
In retrospect, I do regret somewhat quitting my interpreter job at the hospital. I miss interpreting bigtime (although in the meantime I have done a couple freelance legal interpreting jobs). I don't see how I could have continued there nevertheless. The powers that be were not going to give me a schedule that I was willing to accept and the person who had been made supervisor is someone who simply is very difficult to work with. I know I'm not the only one who thinks so.
So starting next week we are going to be without my part-time job income. Hopefully our tax refunds will be large this year. Wish us luck.
